
Y-PEER Afghanistan has successfully conducted a five days-long Training of Trainers (TOT)
on Peer Education. The training took place from 02 to 06 October 2022 with the support of UNFPA
Afghanistan in coordination with AFGA at Kabul Serena and Kabul Star Hotel in Kabul province.28
male youths participated in this training session. All the trainees appreciated and praised the Y-PEER
training approach and they have requested to increase the number of such training for youths in
Afghanistan. The (Experiencing adolescence in humanitarian settings, Decision making, Young people
and environment they live, Y-PEER Network – history, Quality Time: ways to improve community
engagement, Healthy lifestyle, A Window of Hope – Mental Health intervention, Family planning and
youth, HIV and AIDS, Drugs: information and prevention, Early / Child marriage and Maturity Age,
Youth community work responsibilities and opportunities, Monitoring and evaluating a PE session,
Trainers’ skills, Effective communication & public speaking Simulating Peer education,Planning
activities within the Network Y-PEER Afghanistan) were the main topics which were covered in these
training sessions.
Following the introduction of trainers and the trainees Y-PEER, training team members have
started the esteemed training according to the plan and the trainers have presented a comprehensive
presentation regarding the Y-PEER network during each training session.
Subsequently, during the opening ceremony Mr. Sharafdzhon Boborakhimov master Trainer and youth
community mobilization officer in the UNFPA, and Mr.Rafiullah Amini the focal point of Y-PEER
Afghanistan and Mr.Dr Mohammad Younas Alikhil youth project manager in AFGA talked about the
usefulness of peer-to-peer education training in order to raise public awareness on the (PE program
concept, Recruitment, and Retention of Peer Educators, Public Speaking & Communication, Code of
Conduct, Responsibility of youth, who are the young people? Managing time and group – how to
organize ourselves? Young people in humanitarian settings, Supervision and Program Management,
Monitoring and Evaluation) in Afghanistan.
The trainers conveyed inclusive and effective training and gave positive thoughts and feelings
to the trainees in order to work more for the Y-PEER Afghanistan and increase the level of public
awareness in their societies and Provinces.
